Bob brings 20 years in technology and consumer management experience to Ugobe. He has built world class teams and led companies through multiple stages of growth. Bob is known for transforming visionary opportunities into highly successful business models with significant growth and profitability.

Prior to Ugobe Bob served as CEO of NextSport, an action sport scooter company that develops and sells technology enhanced scooter products into big box retailers and specialty sport shops. At NextSport, Bob aligned the company's vision with overseas manufacturing and retail sales that led to successful product marketing initiatives and signifi cant company growth. Earlier in his career, Bob helped launch the Voice over IP industry through the creation of ISPtel, an international clearinghouse connecting over 35 of the world's largest phone companies. Bob also served as Chief Strategist and VP Worldwide Sales of Nikotel, a SIP based videoconferencing company with 150 employees located in Hamburg, Germany. As Chief Strategist, Bob employed a worldwide execution strategy that leveraged partnerships with Lucent and Global Crossings for the sale and distribution of their videoconferencing technology into carrier and ISP customers.

Bob continues to attract talented management teams, industry alliances, strategic advisors and partnerships needed to execute successful business models. Both an excellent communicator and team builder Bob is able to lead diverse teams and inspire great performance.


Rupert Hammond-Chambers

Mr. Hammond-Chambers was born and raised in Scotland before emigrating to the United States in 1987 and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at Denison University. As a new graduate in 1991, he worked for Advanced Telecommunication Corporation (ATC), managing a variety of clients with business interests in the Caribbean and Latin America. In April 1993, he joined The Center for Security Policy, a defense and foreign policy think tank in Washington, D.C., as the Associate for Development. The Center accomplishes its goals by stimulating and informing national and international policy debates, particularly those involving regional, defense, economic, financial, and technology developments that bear upon the security of the United States.

Mr. Hammond-Chambers began working for the US-Taiwan Business Council in October 1994. In March of 1998, he was promoted to Vice President of the Council with additional responsibilities for office management, oversight of the staff, financial bookkeeping and a clear mandate to build out the Council's member/client base.

Mr. Hammond-Chambers was elected President of the Council in November 2000. As the trade relationship between the United States, Taiwan and China continues to evolve, he has worked to develop the Council's role as a strategic partner to its members, with the continuing goal of positioning the Council as a leader in empowering American companies in Asia through value and excellence.

Mr. Hammond-Chambers sits on the Advisory Boards of Redwood Partners International, The Sabatier Group and the Pacific Star Fund, is a Trustee of Fettes College and is a member of both the National Committee on United States-China Relations and the Council on Foreign Relations.


George Koo

For the last 20 years, George has been working with high tech companies across the Pacific. He advises clients on strategic issues preparatory to establishing a local presence in China and assists in cross-cultural communications and negotiations. He currently is an advisor to Dongfeng Fuji Thomson, a Sino-Japanese-American JV as well as various U.S. companies contemplating investments in China. He has been appointed a member (lishi) of China Overseas Friendship Association since 2003.

Prior to founding International Strategic Alliances in Mountain View and Bear Stearns China Trade Advisors (New York), he was Vice President and co-director of Chase Pacific Trade Advisors of Chase Manhattan Bank.

He is a former chairman and board member of AAMA and current board member of 1990 Institute and California-Asia Business Council. He is also a member of the Pacific Council for International Policy. He is a member of Committee of 100, a national organization of prominent Chinese Americans, and he served as the vice chairman of this organization from 2002-06.

Dr. Koo received his S.B. and S.M. degrees in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sc.D. from Stevens Institute of Technology and a M.B.A. from Santa Clara University. He is a frequent speaker in various public forums on the basics to forming successful alliances between Chinese and American companies. He writes for Pacific News Service (New America Media) on issues relating to Chinese Americans and to U.S.-China relations.


Beth M. McCormick

Beth M. McCormick, a member of the Senior Executive Service, was appointed to the position of Acting Director, Defense Technology Security Administration on August 8, 2005, having previously served as the Deputy Director. In this capacity, she manages a staff of over 180 policy analysts, engineers, and licensing officers responsible for developing and implementing DoD technology security policies for international transfers of defense-related goods, services and technologies.

Prior to her current position, Mrs. McCormick served as the Director of Policy, U.S. Air Force International Affairs from November 2001 to January 2005. From July 1994 to October 2001, she served in several executive positions with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, including Director of International Relations and Deputy Associate Administrator for Life and Microgravity Sciences.

Her federal government career began in 1983 as a Presidential Management Intern with the Office of the Secretary of Defense. She became an Assistant for Strategic Defense and Space Arms Control Policy in 1985, where her primary responsibility was support to the Defense and Space Negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland. From 1990 to 1994, Mrs. McCormick served in numerous positions in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and was responsible for long and mid-range policy development and oversight related to national security space systems and advance technology capabilities.

Mrs. McCormick received her B.A. from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania in Political Science and Russian and Soviet Area Studies in 1981. She received her M.A. in Security Policy Studies from George Washington University in 1983. She has received several awards for her exemplary federal service including the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal, and the Air Force Medal for Exceptional Civilian Service.


Dr. Brian Shieh

Dr. Brian Shieh is currently President of PSC, a position he has held since 2003. From 1995-2002 Dr. Shieh held several positions at Powerchip, including Executive Vice President, Technology Vice President, Product Engineering Director, and QA Manager.

From 1985-1995 Dr. Shieh was Assistant/Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Shieh received a B.S. degree in Physics from National Taiwan University in 1976. He also earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1985.


Dr. Tien Wu

Dr. Tien Wu joined Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, Inc. (ASE) in March 2000. He is currently COO of ASE Group and previously served as president of ASE Americas/Europe, as well as head of worldwide sales and marketing.

In March 2003, Wu assumed the position of chief executive officer at ISE Labs, a premier semiconductor testing and engineering house based in Fremont, California. Wu serves as a member of the Board of Directors at ASE Inc. and is also a member of the Board of Directors for Monte Jade Science & Technology Association, West Coast.

Prior to joining ASE, Wu held several management positions within IBM including R&D, process development, manufacturing, application and ASIC design, marketing, and sales in the United States, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Wu holds twelve U.S. patents in the field of microelectronics and has authored over twenty-five articles published in leading journals and academic books.

Wu has a BSCE degree from Taiwan University, and also earned MS and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics from the University of Pennsylvania.
